Training Standards

BWEA strongly recommends that only trained and accredited personnel are allowed to work on members’ projects and urges all members to commit their support to the accreditation scheme.

BWEA Health & Safety Training Standards & Approvals
February 2010

With effect from 31/12/09 BWEA will assume full control of the standards and approvals protocols for all BWEA accredited courses previously overseen by OPITO - the Oil & Gas Academy. Details of the revised arrangements are set out in full here.

This decision has been taken with the full agreement of OPITO in order for us to adopt comprehensive control of BWEA related training and standards. It is also opportune in view of our rebranding as a trade association and the incumbent priority we give to our health and safety responsibilities. It is also essential in view of the rapid growth we expect the sector to go through in the coming years and the need to provide a concentrated focus to the training and skills necessary for current and future generations of workers in our sector.

Full details of the interim arrangements for standards and approvals will be announced January 2010. However if you require any further clarification on this change then please do not hesitate to contact me.
