History of UK Wind Energy

In the 1990's renewable energy was financially encouraged by government by a mechanism called the non-fossil fuel obligagtion (NFFO). Many wind farms in the UK still have contracts under this sceme, but it has now been replaced by a the renewables obligation, which you can find out more about here.
