BWEA 2009 Photo Competition

Title:
Wind, Wave and Tidal: The renewable energy challenge

Aim:
In the run up to the talks at Copenhagen, renewable energy will be a key in the fight against climate change. As we move towards a sustainable low carbon economy, wind wave and tidal devices have an important role to play in the UK's energy future.

The aim of the competition is to show how renewable energy projects have integrated within landscapes and communities, with as much emphasis on public interaction as the striking engineering and architectural features of renewable devices.

Opening and closing dates:
Opening date is Tuesday 17th November, with the closing date Friday 15th January 2010. The winner will be announced on the on Tuesday 19th January.

Prizes:

  • 1st prize:
    Winning entry to be published on the front cover of RealPower, RenewableUK's quarterly magazine + £500

  • 2nd prize:
    Entry to be published in RealPower + £250
  • 3rd prize:
    Entry to be published in RealPower + £100

Eligibility
All persons are eligible to enter. Photographs can qualify if they are taken either in the UK or in UK coastal waters. Submissions should be accompanied by full name and contact details. No more than five entries (photographs) per person are allowed. Photographs must not have been submitted for entry in previous BWEA photo competitions.

Categories:
There are no separate categories. All pictures deemed suitable will be considered for one of the prizes.

Technical Criteria:
Photographs submitted can be colour or black and white, taken with a digital or analogue camera.

Competition Criteria:
Photographs will be judged on:

  1. How well they conform to the title and aim of the competition
  2. Whether they satisfy the minimum of technical criteria as decided by the judges. Decision of the judges will be final.
