BWEA held its fourth dedicated offshore wind conference
19-20 April 2005 at the ExCel Conference Centre, London

400 delegates gathered to attend this two-day conference addressing all the key issues in UK offshore wind at ExCel, London. Jonathon Porritt CBE, Programme Director of Forum for the Future, gave an inspiring opening speech to kick off the event, reminding us all of the need to secure a sense of perspective when addressing the impacts of wind energy against the impacts of climate change.

Full conference proceedings, including audio files of each session and a digital video recording of Jonathon Porritt's speech will be sent to all attendees within the next couple of weeks. The proceedings will also be available for others to purchase.

Dinner on River Boat

A spectacular evening dinner was held on board the Silver Sturgeon river boat, which took guests past all the major sights of central London, from Canary Wharf past Westminster to Battersea Bridge and back. A brand new BWEA award, recognising individual contribution to the UK offshore wind industry was awarded to Richard Evans of Warwick Energy, along with some Fishermen's Friends and a bag of jam doughnuts (don't ask). Congratulations to Richard! (embarrassing photo to appear soon)

A big thank you to all speakers, chairs and delegates for contributing to make this event a huge success.
