Fancy a fun-filled family day out at your local wind farm this Bank Holiday Weekend?

This August Bank Holiday (27/28 August), on the last weekend before schools go back, families across the UK will be able to visit a working wind farm and touch a turbine as part of the first ever, simultaneous nationwide opening of wind farms – and all for FREE.

From Orkney to Aberystwyth, Cumbria to Great Yarmouth, wind farms across the UK will be opening their 'gates' to the public in support of Embrace the Revolution, the national campaign for wind energy.

Windy activities on offer will include kite flying, windmill painting and the opportunity to touch a turbine. A visit to a wind farm promises not only fun for those seeking entertainment during the last weekend of school holidays but also hands on learning about how renewable energy is tackling climate change - the greatest threat facing our planet.

Embrace the Revolution has the support of a number of high profile celebrities including Sian Lloyd, weather presenter, who says:

"Recent dramatic weather events are a stark reminder that nature can only take so much. Climate change is a reality and we must act now if we are to stop the damage we are doing to our fragile planet. Wind is the best of the new renewable energy sources available right now. I for one am backing wind energy and I know I'm not alone."
