Just one week to go to the world's largest marine renewables event

On the day that Defra launches it's draft Marine White Paper, BWEA is holding it's fourth annual wave and tidal stream energy conference, BWEA Marine 07, at the QEII Centre, Westminster on Thursday 15th March. This is expected to be the largest marine renewables event in the world this year and is already attracting a significant amount of international interest.

The conference itself is co-sponsored this year by Scottish Power Renewables and Scottish Development International.

Amongst high level industry figures, confirmed Government speakers and chairs include:

  • Ben Bradshaw MP, Minister for Local Environment, Marine and Animal Welfare, DEFRA
  • Lord Truscott, Parliamentary Under-Secretary for Energy, DTI
  • Geoffrey Norris, Prime Ministers Senior Policy Advisor on Trade and Energy
  • Jane Morgan, Head of Energy and Telecoms Division, Scottish Executive
  • Jim Campbell, Head of Energy Development Unit, DTI

There is also a session on International Markets intended to provide delegates with the opportunity to see how this sector is likely to grow around the world. This has high level representatives from the key countries active in wave and tidal stream energy today:
