BWEA's hugely successful second annual marine conference was held on Thursday 3 March 2005 in the IMAX Theatre at the Science Museum, London, sponsored by ScottishPower Renewables.

With over 240 delegates the event was a sell out and was built upon a strong programme that included the Executive Director of UK ScottishPower and the Energy Minister Mike O'Brien. This programme delivered excellent presentations on financing, grid integration, consenting and policy support together with panel sessions on stakeholder positions and a 2020 Vision for the Sector. The big message from our conference was that the next stage for marine renewables is all about proving its worth, and that means delivering electricity into the grid in order to drive down costs. Overall it was a great day and has really set the standard for our third annual conference to better in 2006.

Full conference proceedings including audio recordings of all sessions, including the Minister's speech and the two panel debates, will be sent to all conference delegates on CD-ROM. We hope to be able to distribute these before the end of the month. The CD-ROM will also be available for non-delegates to purchase.
