RenewableUK HR ForumBackgroundDeveloping the People Management Agenda in Renewable Energy - A new Forum for Human Resources Professionals Renewable Energy remains a growing, dynamic sector, even in the face of the global recession. For HR professionals it is an exciting and challenging place to be; people-related issues are critical factors in securing the future success of our businesses. The crucial need to secure the current and future supply of skilled, talented and motivated staff means that HR professionals will play pivotal roles in the continued growth of our sector as a whole. The RenewableUK HR Forum has been set up in response to member’s call for a space to exchange views on how to tackle common issues. It is hoped that the future activities of the forum can fill the current void in opportunities for HR people within the industry to meet, network and share ideas. Who can join the Forum? Participation is strictly restricted to professionals working on internal human resource implementation in the employment of a RenewableUK member company. The HR Forum's terms of reference are detailed here. HR Forum – purpose and objectives
Background Since 2008 the BWEA Skills and Education Strategy Group (SESG) has been bringing together a wide range of different stakeholders from the industry and beyond to work on critical issues of human capital supply and demand, training and education at every level from individual company activities to national government policy. The SESG has picked up on the growing demand for opportunities for HR professionals to network and work together on important issues. Consequently the work of the SESG has already been extended to include more ‘mainstream’ HR issues, such as last year’s ground-breaking Salary Survey. At the moment there are limited opportunities for HR people within the industry to discuss the key, common issues faced by all those working in the renewables sector. There is concern that, as a result opportunities to draw on others’ experiences are being missed. It has become clear that a specialist HR Forum, associated with the SESG, will be a useful vehicle to bring together HR professionals from across the industry.
