Grid Dissemination Meetings

Please find the slides that formed the basis for the grid dissemination meetings held in LONDON (29th May 2007) and GLASGOW (31st May 2007).

The DTI funds a project bringing together a number of trade associations to collaborate on representational work affecting distributed/embedded generation. This assists them to collectively represent their members' interests on a number of industry/government panels, and to inform their members of key issues they should be aware of. The REA recently arranged the Distribution level dissemination meeting and the BWEA have arranged this, the Transmission/Grid level dissemination meeting. These dissemination meetings covered:-

  • An overview of what grid code is, the history of development, its relevance to wind power, the process for change or review of existing grid code, the process for proving compliance.
  • Comparisons with overseas markets, comparing requirements and the international transmission impacts, application of grid code offshore.
  • An update on latest developments regarding grid in Scotland, grid queue and the Beauly-Denny public enquiry.
  • An update on latest developments regarding grid and regional issues in Wales.
  • Wind farm control, compensation, fault ride through, generic modelling, validation/measurements/monitoring.

The BWEA would like to thank Sara and Sigrid from Econnect for their input and Sigrid especially for her detailed knowledge and presentations. We would also like to thank Keith and Peter for their important regional updates on issues effecting the connection of renewables in Scotland and Wales.

We hope that further events will be possible with varying subject areas relating to the renewable generation and connecting to National Grid.
