The British Wind Energy Association's 19th Annual Conference, Wind Energy Conversion - 'From Theory to Practice', held in Edinburgh, highlighted the increasing importance and potential of operational wind farms, in the UK and in the wider international arena.

Wind energy naturally encompasses a wide range of disciplines and issues, including noise, visual impact, aesthetic, and other environmental considerations as well as economic and engineering parameters. This volume gives particular emphasis to the latest systems and design methods, planning and consultation and financing and economics. Recent developments in sustainable renewables, public relations, financing and industrial opportunities are also discussed.

Leading researchers and industrialists presented papers which included a wide range of studies, results of research and practical applications on an international scale. These proceedings are an important source of new ideas and information to all those involved in the development of and investment in renewables and wind energy.
