Getting to Glasgow

SECC is Scotland's national venue for public events. It's also the UK's largest integrated exhibition and conference centre: a world class facility set in one of Europe's most vibrant cities and only a short journey from some of the most beautiful countryside in the world.

BWEA recommends that delegates travel to Glasgow by public transport if possible, rather than by car or plane. Train tickets can often be bought at very reasonable prices if booked in advance - see www.nationalrail.co.uk. If delegates have to travel by air, consider offsetting carbon emissions. SECC has its own railway station and bus terminal linking with Glasgow's excellent public transport system. Situated just off juntion 19 of the M8 motorway, the SECC is within five minutes drive of the city centre and 15 minutes from Glasgow International Airport. By Rail

Glasgow's Central Station is connected with every city in the UK, while Queen Street Station serves central and northern Scotland. Call National Rail Enquiries on 0845 7484950 or click here for rail travel links.

Once you're in Glasgow, your journey right to the front door can be completed by train.

By Coach

All UK coach operators run services to Glasgow's Buchanan Bus Station from throughout the UK. Click here for coach travel links.

By Road

SECC is just off Junction 19 of the M8 motorway. On-site parking is available for 3,000 vehicles at £3.50 per day. Download an easy-to-print location map.

Accommodation

Hotel accommodation is not included in the conference fee, but BWEA has teamed up with Conference Care to help delegates find hotels close to the SECC at preferable rates. SECC is located within easy reach of the major city centre hotels as well as smaller hotels and guest houses in the city's west end. There are also three on-site hotels: The Crowne Plaza Glasgow, which is connected to the SECC by a covered link, the City Inn and the Campanile. Scotland stubs out smoking in public places

The SECC is now a no smoking venue, in accordance with new legislation passed by the Scottish Parliament to help protect people from the harmful effects of passive smoking.

Signage and guidelines are in place at every entrance and throughout the venue informing everyone attending or working at events of the new law.

Failure to comply with this legislation will be classified as a criminal offence and offenders will be liable to a fixed penalty fine. Visit the Scottish Executive website to find out more.
